Akar rumput

Gerakan akar rumput atau akar umbi (bahasa Inggris: grassroots) adalah gerakan yang memakai masyarakat di sebuah distrik, kawasan atau komunitas tertentu sebagai dasar untuk gerakan politik atau ekonomi.[1] Gerakan dan organisasi akar rumput memakai tindakan kolektif dari tingkat lokal ke perubahan dampak pada tingkat lokal, regional, nasional atau internasional. Gerakan akar rumput diasosiasikan dengan pembuatan keputusan dari bawah ke atas, alih-alih atas ke bawah, dan terkadang dianggap lebih alamiah atau spontan ketimbang struktur kekuatan yang lebih tradisional.[2]
