Andreaea frigida, yang umumnya dikenal sebagai lumut batu es (icy rock moss), adalah spesies lumut yang endemik di Eropa.
Persebaran dan habitat
Endemik di pegunungan Eropa antara paralel utara ke-37 dan paralel utara ke-67, A. frigida dapat ditemukan di Andorra, Austria, Belgia, Republik Ceko, Prancis (Prancis Metropolitan dan Korsika), Jerman, Hungaria, Italia, Luksemburg, Monako, Belanda, Norwegia, Polandia, Portugal, Rumania, Slowakia, Spanyol, Swiss, Ukraina, dan Britania Raya. Lumut ini tumbuh di area berbatu yang lembap di habitat alpin atau subalpin pada ketinggian 385–2.800 m (1.263–9.186 ft) di atas permukaan laut.[1][3]
Di Britania Raya, kemunculannya tersebar luas di Taman Nasional Cairngorms, tempat lumut ini biasanya ditemukan pada bebatuan di aliran air yang berasal dari ceceran salju, tetapi tidak ditemukan di tempat lain kecuali di satu lokasi di Lake District di Inggris.[4][5]
Catatan paling awal untuk Britania Raya berasal dari tahun 1854 (meskipun keberadaannya tidak diakui secara resmi hingga 1988), dan diklasifikasikan sebagai "Rentan" (Vulnerable). Ancaman terbesar terhadap kelangsungan hidupnya diasumsikan adalah pemanasan global.[6]
