Anosognosia /æˌnɒsɒgˈnəʊsɪə/ adalah suatu keadaan ketika seseorang yang mengalami kecacatan tampak tidak sadar akan keberadaan kecacatannya. Istilah ini berasal dari bahasa Yunani, yaitu nosos yang berarti "penyakit", gnosis yang bermakna "pengetahuan", dan prefiks "an-" atau "a-" yang merupakan prefiks negatif, sehingga secara harfiah dapat diartikan sebagai "tanpa pengetahuan akan penyakit." Penyakit ini pertama kali dinamai oleh neurolog Joseph Babinski pada tahun 1914.^[1] Berbeda dengan penyangkalan yang merupakan mekanisme pertahanan psikologis, anosognosia biasanya diakibatkan oleh kerusakan fisiologis di lobus parietal atau luka di wilayah fronto-temporal-parietal otak kanan.^[2]^[3]^[4]
