Asbes
Asbestos atau asbes adalah sebuah grup mineral metamorfis berfiber. Nama ini berasal dari penggunaannya di lampu wick; karena tahan api dia telah digunakan dalam banyak aplikasi.
Namun, penghirupan dari beberapa jenis fiber asbestos dapat menyebabkan berbagai penyakit, termasuk kanker, dan oleh karena itu kebanyakan penggunaan asbestos telah dilarang di banyak negara. Fiberglass merupakan pengganti yang cocok dari asbestos untuk insulasi panas dan fiber keramik tenun sama baik atau lebih baik sebagai insulator konduktor listrik suhu-tinggi.
