Automatix Inc, didirikan pada Januari 1980, merupakan sebuah perusahaan pertama yang memasarkan robot industri dengan built-in mesin visi. Para pendirinya adalah Victor Scheinman, penemu lengan Stanford, Phillippe Villers, Michael Cronin, dan Arnold Reinhold dari Computervision, Jake Dias dan Dan Nigro dari Data General, Gordon VanderBrug, dari NBS, Donald L. Pieper dari General Electric dan Norman Wittels dari Clark University.
