Dalam fabel moral karya Ovid yang tercantum dalam mitologi Yunani dan mitologi Romawi, Baukis dan Filemon adalah sepasang pasutri di wilayah Tyana, yang dikisahkan oleh Ovid berada di Frigia, dan satu-satunya orang di kota tersebut yang menyambut dewa-dewa Zeus dan Hermes yang menyamar (dalam mitologi Romawi, Yupiter dan Merkurius).

Kurang dari dua generasi usai publikasi Ovid, Kis 14:11–12 mengisahkan tentang cerita saat Paulus dan Barnabas sedang berkarya di kota Listra: "Dewa-dewa telah turun ke tengah-tengah kita dalam rupa manusia.' Barnabas mereka sebut Zeus dan Paulus mereka sebut Hermes, karena ia yang berbicara."
