Besi oksida

Besi(II) oksida atau oksida besi merupakan senyawa anorganik dari rumus kimia FeO yang dikenal dengan nama wüstite dalam bentuk mineral.[1] Senyawa terjadi secara alami akibat oksidasi tidak sempurna dari logam besi. Senyawa ini juga dapat dibuat melalui cara sintetis dengan memanaskan besi(II) oksalat (FeC2O4), meskipun produk dari reaksi ini terkontaminasi dengan oksida besi lainnya, yaitu tetroksida triiron (Fe3O4).[2] Mantel bumi tersusun atas 9% senyawa ini yang bersifat sebagai penghantar listrik yang mungkin menjadi penyebab kenapa perturbasi pada rotasi bumi tidak dihitung sebagai model dari sifat mantel bumi.[3]
