The Big Apple adalah julukan untuk Kota New York, Amerika Serikat. Julukan ini pertama dipopulerkan pada 1920-an oleh John J. Fitz Gerald, seorang penulis berita olahraga untuk New York Morning Telegraph. Popularitasnya sejak 1970-an terjadi karena kampanye promosi oleh New York Convention and Visitors Bureau yang sekarang bernama NYC & Company.

Manhattan, Kansas, menyebut dirinya "The Little Apple" pada karya promosinya.

Minneapolis, Minnesota menyebut dirinya "The Mini-Apple"^{[butuh rujukan]}.

Di musikal Evita, Buenos Aires disebut "B.A., Buenos Aires, Big Apple" dalam lagu Eva, Beware of the City. Sebutan ini ditemukan oleh pengarang lirik Tim Rice dan tidak merefleksikan penggunaan yang sudah ada terhadap New York.

Tahun 1981, Cleveland, Ohio berusaha bergabung dalam peringkat Big-ness melalui kampanye "New York's The Big Apple, But Cleveland's a Plum"^[1]
