Biro Arab

Biro Arab adalah sebuah seksi dari Departemen Intelijensi Kairo yang berdiri pada 1916 saat Perang Dunia Pertama dan ditutup pada 1920, yang tujuannya adalah mengumpulkan dan meninjau intelijensi tentang wilayah Arab di Timur Tengah.[1]

Menurut makalah Committee of Imperial Defence dari 7 Januari 1916, Biro Arab didirikan untuk "mengharmonisasikan kegiatan politik Inggris di Timur Dekat...[dan] memberikan informasi soal ketegangan umum Kebijakan Jerman-Turki kepada Foreign Office, India Office, Committee of Defence, War Office, Admiralty, dan Pemerintah India."[2]

Brian Westrate menulis dalam catatan sejarahnya tahun 1992 tentang Biro Arab bahwa "agensi tersebut kemudian telah banyak dicerca karena kesalahan penanganan akut Inggris terhadap kebijakan Timur Tengah saat dan tak lama setelah Perang Dunia I."[1]
