Boa pohon amazon (Corallus hortulana) adalah sejenis boa yang endemik di Amerika Selatan. Dalam bahasa Inggris, ular ini disebut Amazon tree boa.[3][4]

Pengenalan

Panjang tubuhnya antara 1.5 sampai 2 meter. Ular ini memiliki pola warna yang sangat bervariasi mulai dari krem, cokelat kekuningan, kelabu, kuning, oranye, atau kemerahan. kombinasi warna itu dapat berupa belang-belang, bercak-bercak, atau bundaran-bundaran.[4][5]

Ular ini hidup di atas pohon atau di dahan tanaman di hutan-hujan yang rimbun dan lembap. Makanannya adalah mamalia pohon, burung, dan kadal. Ia membunuh mangsanya dengan cara membelit seperti halnya boa pada umumnya. Ular ini berkembangbiak dengan melahirkan. Jumlah anak yang dilahirkan mencapai 10 ekor.[4]

Persebaran geografis

Ular ini tersebar luas di wilayah sebelah timur laut Barisan Andes, membentang mulai dari Peru, Bolivia, Brazilia, Kolombia, Venezuela, hingga Guyana Prancis, serta di Pulau Trinidad dan Tobago. Populasi terbanyak terdapat di hutan sepanjang aliran Sungai Amazon dari hulu ke hilir.[6]
