Charles Harold Dodd

Charles Harold Dodd (1884-1973) adalah seorang teolog dan ahli Perjanjian Baru.[1] Ia dilahirkan di Wales dan kemudian menjadi profesor di Manchester dan Cambridge.[2] Dodd menjalani studinya di University College dan Mansfield College, Oxford.[1] Pada tahun 1915 ia menjadi dosen Perjanjian Baru di almamaternya Mansfield College.[1] Karya-karya yang telah dihasilkan oleh Dodd antara lain The Authority of the Bible (1928), The Epistle to the Romans (1932), The Bible and the Greeks (1935), In the Parables of the Kingdom (1935), The Apostolic Preaching and its Developments (1936) dan History of the Gospel (1938).[1] Dood memperkenalkan istilah "eskatologis" yang telah direalisasi (realized eschatology).[2] Di kemudian hari istilah ini berganti menjadi "eskatologi dalam proses inaugurasi".[2] Perubahan ini merupakan wujud interpretasi atas pengajaran Yesus Kristus mengenai Kerajaan Allah.[2] Interpretasi ini juga bertentangan dengan interpretasi Albert Schweitzer.[2] Karya Dodd yang terbesar adalah studinya atas tulisan-tulisan Yohanin.[2] Studinya atas tulisan-tulisan tersebut dalam terlihat dalam karyanya yaitu The Interpretation of the Fourth Gospel (1935) dan The Historical Tradition in the Fourth Gospel (1963).[1] Dodd memiliki wawasan yang sangat luas mengenai Helenistik dan ia sendiri adalah seorang pemikir dalam tradisi Platonik.[2]
