Cinta platonik

Cinta platonik adalah sebuah istilah yang dipakai untuk menyebut sebuah relasi yang sangat afektif, tetapi di mana unsur-unsur rasa ketertarikan secara seksual tidak ada atau telah ditekan dan disublimasikan, terutama apabila hal ini justru malahan diperkirakan ada.

Istilah ini diambil dari salah satu filsuf Yunani kuno, Plato, terutama dari karyanya Symposium, di mana tertulis bahwa cinta akan ide daripada kebaikan adalah dasar dari semua kebajikan dan kebenaran.

Istilah amor platonicus, sudah dipakai seawal abad ke-15 oleh Marsilio Ficino, sebagai sinonim daripada "amor socraticus," yang merujuk kepada afeksi antara Sokrates dan murid-muridnya.
