Color commentator atau color analyst adalah orang yang membantu play-by-play announcer dengan berbicara ketika pertandingan tidak sedang dimainkan. Color commentator memberikan analisis pakar dan pengetahuan latar, seperti statistik, strategi, dan laporan injury mengenai tim dan atlet, dan kadang disertai humor ringan. Color commentator biasanya orang yang pernah bermain atau melatih olahraga yang mereka komentari. Istilah ini digunakan di Amerika Utara.

Di Inggris istilah ini tidak dikenal, seorang play-by-play announcer disebut komentator.
