Cuculidae merupakan famili burung dari ordo Cuculiformes yang tersebar di Dunia Lama dan Australasia.[1] Beberapa jenis Cuculidae diketahui memiliki perilaku berbiak yang merugikan burung lainnya, famili burung ini kerap menempatkan telurnya pada sarang burung lain. Pemilik sarang akan menetaskan telur tersebut dan mengasuhnya.[2]

Deskripsi

Ukuran tubuh Cuculidae memiliki ukuran tubuh yang beragam, dari yang kecil seperti kedasi telinga-hitam hingga yang besar seperti karakalo australia. Famili ini memiliki bulu yang pesolek, tubuh memanjang, kebanyakan dengan ekor yang panjang membulat atau bercabang dua, dan sayap yang membulat atau meruncing. Kebanyakan paruhnya melengkung yang khas dengan beragam ukuran. Tungkainya zigodaktil, dua jari kedepan dan dua jari kebelakang; berbentuk pendek untuk jenis arboreal serta panjang dan kuat untuk jenis terestrial.[1]
