Cukong

Cukong adalah menunjuk kepada pengusaha-pengusaha pemilik perusahaan besar di Indonesia. Kata ini sendiri berasal dari bahasa Hokkien yang lazim dilafalkan di Indonesia oleh suku Tionghoa-Indonesia. Cukong (Hanzi: 主公, hanyu pinyin: zhugong) dalam bahasa Hokkien atau bahasa Mandarin berarti pemimpin, ketua, pemilik atau bos.Sampai pada tahun 1950-an, cukong masih digunakan sebagai kata untuk merujuk bos atau majikan, tetapi setelah 1960-an, cukong kemudian mulai mendapat konotasi negatif karena sering dirujuk kepada pengusaha-pengusaha dari suku tertentu terutama suku Tionghoa-Indonesia. Konotasi negatif ini kemudian semakin menjadi-jadi setelah rezim Orde Baru menciptakan opini publik bahwa pengusaha Tionghoa mayoritas terlibat dalam praktik kolusi, korupsi dan nepotisme dalam setiap kegiatan bisnis.
