De Locomotief adalah surat kabar pertama yang terbit di Semarang pada era Hindia Belanda. Surat kabar ini didirikan pada tahun 1845 dan dipimpin oleh Pieter Brooshooft, seorang aktivis politik yang beretika.

Harian tersebut awalnya bernama Semarangsch Nieuws en Advertentieblad. Pada tahun 1863 berganti nama menjadi De Locomotief, setelah dilalui kereta api pertama di Semarang.

Surat kabar tersebut ditutup selama Perang Dunia II tetapi pada tahun 1947 harian De Locomotief dibuka kembali.[1]

Surat kabar berbahasa Belanda ini dikutip di luar Indonesia pada tahun 1950-an sebagai sumber informasi tentang masalah Perang Kemerdekaan Indonesia.[2]

Pada tahun 1956, surat kabar tersebut ditutup dan bangunannya diambil alih oleh Bank Bumi Daya setelah renovasi.

Bagian penting dari peredaran surat kabar difilmkan dalam bentuk mikrofilm.[3][4]

Materi dalam surat kabar tersebut telah digunakan untuk mengulas peristiwa-peristiwa yang terjadi selama era Hindia Belanda.[5]
