Biografi

Berasal dari Madison, Wisconsin, Kolstad bersekolah di Edgewood High School of the Sacred Heart dan kemudian melanjutkan studi administrasi bisnis di Taylor University di Indiana. Dia pindah ke California pada usia 24 tahun untuk mengejar karier sebagai penulis skenario.
