Drosera cucullata adalah spesies sundew yang endemik di utara Australia Barat dan Wilayah Utara. Spesies ini pertama kali dideskripsikan oleh Allen Lowrie dalam bukunya tahun 2014, Carnivorous Plants of Australia Magnum Opus.[2] Seperti anggota lain dari Drosera sect. Arachnopus, tumbuhan ini merupakan tumbuhan semusim terofita.[3]

Nama spesies ini merujuk pada benang sari-nya, yang berukuran besar, berwarna merah, dan "berkerudung seperti kobra yang terancam" (dari bahasa Latin cucullatus [berkerudung]).[4]
