ERG3 atau sterol C-5 desaturase adalah enzim fungi yang berasal dari Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Ortoplog manusia dari ERG3 adalah SC5D.[1] ERG3 terlokalisasi di retikulum endoplasma dan vesikel,[2][3] serta mengatalisis dehidrogenasi C5(6) dari episterol menjadi 5-dehidroepisterol. 5-Dehidroepisterol nantinya akan dikonversi lebih lanjut menjadi ergosterol.[4][5]

Detail struktural tepat dari substrat sterol C-5 desaturase bervariasi di seluruh eukariota. Ditunjukkan di bawah skema reaksi adalah tiga gugus distal yang mungkin beserta jalur biosintetik dan spesies tempat gugus tersebut ditemukan.[6]
