Elliott Nugent (20 September 1896 – 9 Agustus 1980)[3] adalah seorang aktor, penulis naskah drama, penulis, dan sutradara film Amerika.
Biografi
Nugent lahir di Dover, Ohio, putra aktor J. C. Nugent.[4] Dia kuliah di Ohio State University.[5] Ia berhasil melakukan transisi dari film bisu ke film bersuara. Dia menyutradarai The Cat and the Canary (1939), dibintangi oleh Bob Hope dan Paulette Goddard.[6] Ia juga menyutradarai film Never Say Die (1939) dan My Favorite Brunette (1947).
Nugent adalah kawan dari penulis James Thurber.[7] Mereka menuliskan drama Broadway The Male Animal (1940)[4] yang dibintangi Nugent bersama Gene Tierney. Ia juga menyutradarai The Male Animal, adaptasi film tahun 1942 yang dibintangi oleh Henry Fonda dan Olivia de Havilland.[8]
Nugent adalah saudara ipar aktor Alan Bunce dan Ethel and Albert.[9]
