Endopeptidase

Endopeptidase atau endoproteinase adalah enzim peptidase pemecah protein yang memutus ikatan peptida milik asam amino yang tidak berada di ujung molekul protein (nonterminal).[1] Kelompok enzim ini dibedakan dari eksopeptidase yang memutus ikatan peptida milik asam amino ujung (terminal). Karena itu, endopeptidase tidak menghasilkan monomer seperti halnya eksopeptidase. Oligopeptidase adalah kelompok khusus dalam endopeptidase yang menghasilkan oligopeptida alih-alih protein. Enzim-enzim ini biasanya menyasar hanya asam-asam amino tertentu yang cocok. enzim endopeptidase adalah tripsin, kimotripsin, elastase, termolisin, pepsin, glutamil endopeptidase, dan neprilisin.
