Envenomasi adalah proses dibiuskannya bisa oleh gigitan atau sengatan seekor hewan berbisa.[1]

Banyak jenis hewan, seperti mamalia (seperti celurut ekor-pendek utara, Blarina brevicauda) kadal (seperti ular lanang),[2] laba-laba (seperti laba-laba janda hitam),[3] serangga (seperti tawon) dan ikan (seperti ikan batu) menggunakan bisa untuk berburu dan untuk mempertahankan diri.

Terkhususnya, envenomasi oleh gigitan ular dianggap sebagai penyakit tropis yang terabaikan, memuntungkan anggota gerak sebanyak >400,000 orang dan menyebabkan >100,000 kematian per tahun.[4]
