Episiotomi medio-lateral

Episiotomy (pengucapan bahasa Inggris: [/ɛˌpiːziːˈɔːtʌmiː/]) adalah sebuah irisan bedah melalui perineum yang dilakukan unuk memperlebar vagina dengan maksud untuk membantu proses kelahiran bayi. Perlebaran ini dapat dilakukan di garis tengah (midline) atau dari sebuah sudut dari ujung belakang dari vulva, dilakukan di bawah bius lokal (local anaesthetic) dan dijahit kembali setelah melahirkan. Ini merupakan suatu prosedur umum dalam kedokteran yang dilakukan kepada wanita.
