Eukaliptol

Eukaliptol (eucalyptol, dikenal pula sebagai 1,8-cineol, 1,8-epoxy-p-menthane, cajeputol, IUPAC: 1,3,3-trimetil-2-oksabisiklo[2,2,2]oktana) adalah eter siklik alami dan anggota monoterpenoid.

Eukaliptol dihasilkan dari banyak anggota genus Eucalyptus dan beberapa anggota suku Myrtaceae lain, seperti Melaleuca dan Syzygium. Selasih, kemangi, dan banyak rempah-rempah bumbu lainnya juga mengandung eukaliptol.

Eter ini tidak larut dalam air namun dapat bercampur dengan baik dalam petroleum eter, etanol, serta kloroform.

Karena aromanya yang menenangkan, eukaliptol banyak dipakai sebagai campuran obat, parfum, serta berbagai produk pendukung kesehatan.
