Feritin

Feritin adalah protein intraseluler yang berfungsi menyimpan zat besi dan mengeluarkannya kedalam tubuh saat dibutuhkan. Selain itu, feritin juga memiliki peran dalam meregulasi homeostasis zat besi dan sebagai penggambaran persediaan zat besi dan inflamasi sistemik di dalam tubuh.[1] Mayoritas feritin mayoritas eksis sebagai protein sitosolik, meskipun juga ditemukan di mitokondria.[2] Pada tubuh manusia, serum feritin berfungsi sebagai bahan diagnosis untuk kondisi defisiensi zat besi dan kelebihan zat besi.[3]
