Film edukasi

Film edukasi adalah sebuah film yang tujuan utamanya adalah memberi edukasi. Film edukasi sudah digunakan pada ruangan kelas sebagai sebuah alternatif dari metode belajar lainnya.

Film edukasi umumnya dapat dibagi menjadi film ilmu sosial dan geografi, yang sejak kemunculannya pada 1960an, terdiri dari film geografi-industri, travelog, dan film etnologi,[1] film sejarah, film literatur, film kesenian, dan film sosiodrama, yang umumnya bedasarkan topik seperti kesetaraan ras dan keterlibatan sipil.[2]

Kemunculan

Menentukan media yang dapat masuk kedalam kategori film edukasi merupakan topik yang kontroversial. Beberapa sejarawan menyarankan bahwa film-film edukasi pertama ditayangkan pada Sankt-Peterburg pada 1897, sementara studi lainnya menentukan bahwa film edukasi pertama terinspirasi dari film warta bertia pada 1913.[3] Bagaimanapun, ilmuwan yakin bahwa film jenis ini pertamakali muncul pada awal 1900-an.[4]
