GOES-19

GOES-19 (disebut GOES-U sebelum mencapai orbit geostasioner) adalah satelit cuaca, satelit keempat dan terakhir dari seri satelit GOES-R yang dioperasikan oleh National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Seri GOES-R akan memperpanjang ketersediaan sistem Satelit Lingkungan Operasional Geostasioner (GOES) hingga tahun 2036. Satelit ini dibangun oleh Lockheed Martin, berdasarkan platform A2100.[1][2]

Peluncuran

Satelit ini berhasil diluncurkan ke luar angkasa menggunakan roket SpaceX Falcon Heavy pada tanggal 25 Juni 2024 pukul 17.26 EDT (21.26 GMT), dari Kennedy Space Center, Florida, Amerika Serikat. Desain ulang pipa panas loop untuk mencegah anomali, seperti yang terlihat pada GOES-17, diperkirakan tidak akan menunda peluncuran seperti yang terjadi pada GOES-T.[3][4][5][6]

GOES-U juga membawa salinan instrumen Compact CORonagraph (CCOR) milik Naval Research Laboratory yang, bersama dengan CCOR yang direncanakan untuk Space Weather Follow On-Lagrange 1 (SWFO-L1), akan memungkinkan pemantauan berkelanjutan terhadap angin surya setelah pensiunnya satelit NASA-ESA SOHO pada tahun 2025.

GOES-U memiliki massa kering 2.925 kg (6.449 lb) dan massa berbahan bakar 5.000 kg (11.023 lb).
