Gabus utara (Channa argus) adalah spesies ikan gabus yang berasal dari Tiongkok, Rusia, Korea Utara, dan Korea Selatan. Habitatnya terbentang dari Sungai Amur hingga Pulau Hainan.[3] Spesies ini telah diperkenalkan ke kawasan lain dan dianggap sebagai spesies invasif.[3] Di Eropa, laporan pertama mengenai keberadaan spesies ini berasal dari Cekoslowakia pada tahun 1956.[4] Di Amerika Serikat, ikan ini dianggap sangat invasif. Pada Juni 2002, sempat terjadi insiden di Crofton, Maryland, setelah beberapa gabus utara ditemukan di sebuah kolam di kota tersebut. Ikan-ikan ini pada akhirnya dimusnahkan, tetapi peristiwa ini menarik perhatian media dan menginspirasi dua film horor, yaitu Snakehead Terror dan Frankenfish.
