Gunung Besar adalah sebuah gunung berapi kerucut yang berada di sebelah tenggara pulau Sumatra, Indonesia. Endapan sulfur yang kecil dapat ditemukan di kawahnya. Sebuah ladang solfatara besar yang disebut Marga Bayur terletak di sepanjang sisi utara-selatan-barat (sistem patahan Semangko). Gunung ini pertama kali diidentifikasikan oleh Neumann van Padang pada tahun 1951. Gunung ini juga memiliki keunikannya tersendiri yaitu memiliki 2 puncak yang pertama puncak top dan kedua puncak kawah. Dengan puncak kawah lebih rendah sekitar 50 mdpl perbedaannya. Gunung ini membutuhkan waktu 3 - 7 hari untuk dapat sampai ke puncak kawah yang disertai jalan curam, terjal,dan berbatu.
