Pulau Baffin, yang disebut sebagai Helluland

Helluland adalah nama yang diberikan kepada salah satu dari tiga tanah yang dilihat oleh Bjarni Herjólfsson, dijumpai oleh Leif Ericson dan kemudian dieksplorasi oleh Þorfinnr "Karlsefni" Þórðarson pada sekitar tahun 1000 Masehi di pesisir Atlantik Utara dari Amerika Utara.[1]

Saga Erik si Merah dan Saga Greenland dari Islandia mengkarakteristikan Helluland sebagai tanah bebatuan datar (Norse Lama: hella). Menurut sebuah artikel 2012 karya Jónas Kristjánsson dkk, sebagian besar sarjana sepakat bahwa Helluland merujuk kepada Pulau Baffin di teritorial Kanada Nunavut pada masa sekarang.[2]
