Himarë (bahasa Albania: Himarë; bahasa Yunani: Χιμάρα, translit. Khimara atau Χειμάρρα, Kheimarra) adalah munisipalitas dan daerah di Prefektur Vlorë, Albania bagian selatan. Munisipalitas ini memiliki luas keseluruhan 57.194 km² (22.083 sq mi) dan terdiri dari satuan administrasi Himarë, yaitu Horë-Vranisht dan Lukovë.^[2]^[3] Daerah ini terletak di antara Pegunungan Keraunia dan Pesisir Laut Ionia Albania dan bagian dari Riviera Albania. Perbatasan wilayah Himarë yang dianggap secara tradisional secara bertahap menyusut selama era Utsmaniyah, berkurang menjadi kota Himarë dan desa-desa di pesisir pantai (Bregdet dalam bahasa Albania),^[4] umumnya hanya mencakup Palase, Dhermi, Pilur, Kudhes, Vuno, Ilias, dan Qeparo.^[5]

Satuan munisipalitas Himarë sebagian besar dihuni oleh masyarakat suku Yunani.^[6]^[7]^[8]^[9] Penduduk setempat menuturkan dwibahasa Yunani dan Albania.^[10] Khususnya kota Himarë dan desa Dermi dan Palasa, yang bersama-sama merupakan sebagian besar populasi unit munisipal Himarë, sebagian besar dihuni oleh penduduk Yunani. Desa Iljas, Lukovë, Kudhës, Pilur, dan Vuno dihuni oleh penduduk suku Albania, sedangkan Qeparo dihuni oleh suku Albania dan Yunani.^[11] Dalam sensus 2011, di bekas munisipalitas Horë-Vranisht 83% menyatakan diri sebagai orang Albania dan sisanya tidak memberikan jawaban.^[12] Di bekas munisipalitas Lukovë, penduduknya sebagian besar adalah orang Albania dengan minoritas Yunani.^[13]

Geografi

Wilayah Himarë adalah jalur dengan panjang sekitar 20 km dan lebar 5 km, meliputi luas keseluruhan 132.13 km²,^[14] dan dibatasi oleh pegunungan Llogara setinggi 2.000 meter di timur laut (dikenal pada zaman kuno dan dalam dialek Yunani setempat sebagai Pegunungan Keraunia (bahasa Yunani: Κεραύνια Όρη, Keravnia ori, "Pegunungan Guntur") dan Laut Ionia di barat daya. Terdapat pantai berpasir putih panjang dan beberapa bukit di dekat laut bertingkat dan ditanami pohon zaitun dan jeruk.^[15] Desa-desa Himarë bertengger tinggi di puncak pegunungan Ceraunia dalam posisi yang menawarkan pertahanan alami terhadap orang-orangSuku Albania Lab di dekatnya selama era Utsmaniyah.^[7] Perbatasan wilayah Himarë yang dianggap secara tradisional secara bertahap menyusut selama periode Utsmaniyah, berkurang hanya menjadi kota kotapraja Himarë dan desa-desa di pesisir (Bregdet dalam bahasa Albania).^[4]
