Hirudin adalah peptida yang dibuat secara alami di kelenjar ludah lintah pengisap darah (seperti Hirudo medicinalis) yang memiliki sifat antikoagulan (mencegah pembekuan darah).[2] Hirudin merupakan senyawa penting bagi perilaku hematofagi lintah untuk menjaga agar darah tetap mengalir setelah proses flebotomi (tusukan pada pembuluh darah) yang dilakukan oleh lintah pada kulit inang.
