Hurdy-gurdy adalah instrumen alat musik dawai mekanis yang menghasilkan suara dengan memutar roda rosin dengan engkol tangan yang bergesekan dengan senar. Roda berfungsi seperti busur biola, dan nada tunggal yang dimainkan pada instrumen terdengar mirip dengan biola. Melodi dimainkan pada keyboard yang menekan garis singgung — irisan kecil, biasanya terbuat dari kayu — terhadap satu atau lebih senar untuk mengubah nadanya.
