Ibu Gurun

Ibu Gurun adalah pertapa Kristen yang tinggal di gurun Mesir, Israel dan Suriah antara abad ke-4 dan ke-5 Masehi.[1] Mereka biasanya hidup dalam komunitas monastik yang mulai terbentuk pada saat itu, meskipun terkadang mereka hidup sebagai eremit. Wanita lain pada zaman itu yang memengaruhi tradisi pertapaan atau monastik awal saat tinggal di padang pasir juga digambarkan sebagai Ibu Gurun.[2]
