Islas Chafarinas

Islas Chafarinas (Kepulauan Chafarinas) merupakan sekumpulan tiga pulau kecil di Laut Tengah di lepas pantai Maroko dengan luas 0.525 km², 45 km di timur Melilla dan 3.3 km lepas kota Ra'su l-Ma' di Maroko. Islas Chafarinas adalah salah satu teritori Spanyol di Afrika Utara lepas pantai Moroko yang dikenal sebagai Plaza de soberanía.[butuh rujukan]

Islas Chafarinas terdiri dari tiga pulau (luas dalam hektar):

  • Isla del Congreso 25,6 ha
  • Isla Isabel II 15,3 ha (dengan pagar)
  • Isla del Rey 11,6 ha

Di bawah kekuasaan Spanyol sejak 1847, terdapat 190 pertahanan militer di Isla Isabel II, jumlah penduduk yang stabil di kepulauan tersebut, turun dari 426 jiwa tahun 1900 dan 736 jiwa tahun 1910.

Kepulauan ini memiliki kesamaan dalam lingkaran lingkungan Spanyol sejak 1980-an dan 1990-an ketika orang terakhir dari Kelompok Biarawan Mediterania di teritori Spanyol menetap di sana, hingga meninggalkan pulau itu tahun 1990-an[1]
