J. Fred Muggs (lahir 14 Maret 1952) adalah simpanse biasa yang lahir di koloni Afrika Kamerun Prancis yang merupakan bagian dari Kamerun modern. Ia dibawa ke Kota New York sebelum ulang tahun pertamanya, dan dibeli oleh dua mantan tokoh NBC. Ia kemudian muncul dalam sejumlah acara televisi NBC, termasuk Today Show di NBC, di mana ia menjadi maskot sejak tahun 1953 hingga 1957. Muggs tampil dalam beberapa acara televisi termasuk serial eponim, berkeliling dunia, dan bekerja di Busch Gardens di Tampa, Florida. Ia resmi pensiun pada usia 23 tahun. Pada tahun 2018, Muggs masih hidup.[1] Simpanse diketahui dapat hidup hingga 70 tahun, meskipun umumnya umur hewan tersebut hanya 50 tahun.[2][3]
