Johnny Mercer

John Herndon "Johnny" Mercer (18 November 1909 – 25 Juni 1976) adalah pencipta lagu dan penyanyi dari Amerika Serikat. Ia menulis lirik dari lebih dari 1000 lagu, termasuk lagu-lagu untuk film dan Broadway, dan menerima 19 nominasi Academy Award. Ia juga salah seorang pendiri Capitol Records.

Dilahirkan di Savannah, Georgia, Mercer tidak pernah belajar musik secara formal, tetapi senang mendengarkan musik. Ia pindah ke New York pada 1928, pada usia 19. Mulanya ia bekerja sebagai aktor, tetapi kemudian beralih menjadi penyanyi dan penulis lagu. Tawaran kerja dari Hollywood membuatnya pindah ke sana dan bekerja untuk RKO. Pada 1941 ia mulai bekerja sama dengan Harold Arlen.
