Jules Michelet (bahasa Prancis: [ʒyl miʃ.lɛ]; 21 Agustus 1798 – 9 Februari 1874) adalah seorang sejarawan Prancis. Ia lahir di Paris dari keluarga dengan tradisi Huguenot.

Dalam karya tahun 1855, Histoire de France (Sejarah Prancis),[1] Jules Michelet menjadi sejarawan pertama yang memakai dan mengartikan[2] kata Renaissance ('kelahiran kembali' dalam bahasa Prancis), sebagai periode dalam sejarah budaya Eropa yang mengalami perubahan drastis dari Abad Pertengahan,[3] menciptakan pemahaman modern dari kemanusiaan dan tempatnya di dunia. Sejarawan François Furet menulis dalam History of the French Revolution (1847) bahwa ia merupakan "batu pijakan seluruh historiografi revolusioner dan juga monumen sastra".[4] Gaya aforistiknya menunjukkan pandangan republikanisme anti-rohaniwan.
