Apus apus atau kapinis Eropa adalah sebuah burung berukuran sedang, dangkal mirip dengan sarang burung walet atau kapinis rumah tetapi agak lebih besar, meskipun tidak berasal dari spesies passerine, berada dalam urutan Apodiformes. Kemiripan antar kelompok disebabkan oleh evolusi konvergen, yang mencerminkan perkembangan kontekstual yang serupa. Kerabat terdekat burung walet adalah kolibri Dunia Baru dan hemiprocnidae di Asia Tenggara.
Nama ilmiahnya Apus adalah bahasa Latin untuk burung layang-layang, yang dianggap oleh orang-orang kuno sebagai sejenis burung layang-layang tanpa kaki (dari α Yunani Kuno, a, "tanpa", dan πούς, pous, "kaki").
