Kapitanium

Dalam skala waktu geologi, Kapitanium (kadang disebut Kapitania) adalah usia atau tahap Permian yang juga merupakan periode teratas atau terakhir dari tiga subdivisi dari seri pada era Guadalupium. Kapitania berlangsung antara 265,1 hingga 259,1 juta tahun yang lalu. Tahap ini didahului oleh Wordium dan diikuti oleh Wusiapingium.[1]

Sebuah peristiwa kepunahan massal yang signifikan (kepunahan periode Akhir-Kapitanium) terjadi pada akhir tahap ini, yang dikaitkan dengan anoksia dan pengasaman atau acidification di lautan dan mungkin disebabkan oleh letusan gunung berapi yang menghasilkan ''Siberian Traps''.

Peristiwa kepunahan ini mungkin terkait dengan peristiwa kepunahan periode Permian-Trias yang jauh lebih besar, dan kemudian diikuti sekitar 10 juta tahun kemudian.
