Karaj (bahasa Persia: کرج, diucapkan [kæˈɾædʒ] ⓘ) adalah ibu kota Provinsi Alborz, Iran, dan secara efektif merupakan kota satelit Teheran. Meskipun county ini memiliki populasi sekitar 1,97 juta, seperti yang tercatat dalam sensus 2016, sebagian besar dari 1.419 km2 (548 sq mi) county adalah pegunungan terjal, daerah perkotaan adalah yang terbesar keempat di Iran, setelah Teheran, Mashhad, dan Isfahan. Kabupaten Eshtehard dan Kabupaten Fardis dipisahkan dari kabupaten Karaj sejak sensus sebelumnya.
Karaj telah menjadi tuan rumah komunitas sejak 3000 tahun SM.[3][4] Wilayah Khurvin di Karaj telah dihuni sejak Zaman Perunggu, dan wilayah Kelak di tepi kiri Sungai Karaj sejak Zaman Besi.
Komposisi etnis di Karaj mencakup 47% Persia, 36,1% orang Turki, 7,4% Kurdi dan 4,4% Iran Utara Utara.[5]
