Sebuah katai taman

Katai taman atau gnome taman (bahasa Jerman: Gartenzwerge) adalah hiasan berbentuk patung katai (gnome) yang terpasang di taman rumah. Dipopulerkan di Jerman sekitar tahun 1840-an, hiasan ini populer dipasang di rumah-rumah di Prancis dan Britania Raya.[1] Istilah gnome taman berasal dari frasa Jerman Gnomen-Figuren (minitatur patung).[2] Hiasan ini menjadi populer sekitar tahun 1930-an setelah film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs yang menampilkan kurcaci (katai) tayang,[3] dan kembali populer tahun 1970-an.[4]

Katai taman berbentuk seperti kurcaci, umumnya berjenis kelamin laki-laki, yang berjanggut dan memakai Topi Frigia berwarna merah.[5] Hiasan ini terbuat dari tanah liat dan dicetak sesuai jenis gaya katai taman yang diinginkan, seperti tersenyum, tertidur, atau memancing.[6]
