Kecoak oriental (Blatta orientalis) atau kecoak hitam (karena tubuhnya sebagian besar gelap),[1] adalah sebuah spesies kecoak besar, dengan jantan dewasa yang memiliki panjang 18–29 mm (23⁄32–1+5⁄32 in), dan betina dewasa memiliki panjang 20–27 mm (25⁄32–1+1⁄16 in).[2] Kecoak ini berwarna cokelat gelap atau hitam, dan memiliki tubuh yang mengkilap. Betina memiliki wujud yang agak berbeda dengan jantan, tampak sekilas tidak memiliki sayap, tetapi memiliki sifat brakipteri, memiliki sayap non-fungsional di bawah kepalanya. Tubuh betina lebih lebar daripada jantan, tetapi jantan sayapnya lebih besar, menutupi tiga perempat abdomennya[1][3][4] dan berwarna cokelat. Kedua jenis kelamin tidak bisa terbang. Betina wujudnya kurang lebih mirip dengan kecoak kayu florida. Awalnya endemik ke Semenanjung Krimea dan di daerah di sekitar Laut Hitam dan Laut Kaspia,[2] sekarang sebarannya kosmopolitan.[5]
