Kindertransport


Kindertransport (Jerman untuk "transportasi anak-anak") adalah sebuah upaya penyelamatan terorganisasi yang dialkukan selama sembilan bulan sebelum Perang Dunia Kedua. Britania Raya membawa sekitar 10.000 anak Yahudi dari Jerman Nazi, beserta wilayah pendudukan Nazi di Austria, Cekoslowakia, Polandia dan Kota Bebas Danzig. Anak-anak tersebut ditempatkan di panti asuhan, asrama, sekolah, dan pertanian di Britania Raya. Sering kali mereka adalah satu-satunya anggota keluarga mereka yang selamat dari Holocaust. Program ini didukung, dipublikasikan, dan dianjurkan oleh pemerintah Britania, yang membebaskan persyaratan visa imigrasi yang tidak dapat dipenuhi oleh komunitas Yahudi Britania.[1][2] Jumlah anak yang lebih sedikit diterima melalui program ini oleh Belanda, Belgia, Prancis, Swedia, dan Swiss.[3][4][5]
