Kokoonase

Kokoonase adalah enzim proteolitik[1] yang menyerupai tripsin[2] yang dihasilkan oleh ulat sutra (dari spesies Bombyx,[3] Heliconius[4] dan Antheraea[5][6]) saat mereka mendekati tahap akhir metamorfosis. Enzim ini diproduksi oleh sel-sel di dalam probosis[7] dan dikeluarkan ke galea.[8] Fungsinya adalah untuk melemahkan serat kokoon, sehingga memfasilitasi keluarnya serangga dewasa.

Enzim ini ditemukan oleh Carroll Williams.[9]
