Kontes Slam Dunk

Slam Dunk Contest adalah pertandingan tahunan NBA yang diselenggarakan selama minggu NBA All-Star Game. Pertandingan ini dimulai oleh American Basketball Association pada tahun 1976 di Denver (dimenangkan oleh Julius Erving), pada saat yang sama ketika slam dunk diperbolehkan oleh NCAA. Tahun berikutnya pertandingan ini tidak diadakan karana ABA bergabung dengan National Basketball Association. NBA kemudian mengadakan pertandingan yang sama sejak tahun 1984.

Pada pertengahan tahun 1990-an, pertandingan ini mulai turun pamornya karena banyak gerakan slam dunk sudah pernah dilakukan, dan karena banyak pemain bintang tidak mau ikut serta, sehingga peserta pertandingan adalah pemain-pemain yang tidak dikenal.
