Kosmos 378

Kosmos 378 (Rusia: Космос 378 berarti Cosmos 378), juga dikenal sebagai DS-U2-IP No.1, adalah satelit Soviet yang diluncurkan pada tahun 1970 sebagai bagian dari program Dnepropetrovsk Sputnik. Itu adalah 710 kilogram (£ 1570) pesawat ruang angkasa, yang dibangun oleh Biro Desain Yuzhnoye, dan digunakan untuk mempelajari ionosfer.

Roket pembawa Kosmos-3M 11K65M, nomor seri 47117-107, digunakan untuk meluncurkan Kosmos 378 ke orbit Bumi rendah. Diluncurkan pada 18:20:01 UTC pada tanggal 17 November 1970, dari Situs 132/2 di Kosmodrom Plesetsk. Peluncuran menghasilkan penyisipan sukses dari satelit ke orbit. Setelah mencapai orbit, satelit ditugaskan Kosmos peruntukannya, dan menerima Internasional Designator 1970-097A. Amerika Utara Aerospace Komando Pertahanan ditugaskan nomor katalog 04713.

Kosmos 378 adalah satu-satunya satelit DS-U2-IP yang akan diluncurkan. Ia beroperasi di orbit dengan perigee dari 233 kilometer (145 mil), sebuah apogee dari 1.697 kilometer (1.054 mil), 74 derajat kemiringan, dan periode orbit 104,4 menit. Operasi selesai pada 13 September 1971, sebelum meluruh decay dari orbit dan kembali memasuki atmosfer bumi pada tanggal 17 Agustus 1972.
