Kripta
Kripta (dari bahasa Yunani: κρύπτη (kryptē); bahasa Latin: kripta, arti: "makam") adalah ruang batu di bawah lantai gereja atau bangunan lainnya. Ruang ini biasanya berisi peti mati, sarkofagus, atau relik keagamaan.
Awalnya, kripta biasanya ditemukan di bawah apsis utama gereja, seperti di Abbey of Saint-Germain en Auxerre, tetapi kemudian juga terletak di bawah chancel, nave, dan transept. Kadang-kadang gereja ditinggikan untuk mengakomodasi kripta di permukaan tanah, seperti Gereja St. Michael di Hildesheim, Jerman.
