Liga Latin (bahasa Latin: Foedus Latinum)[1] adalah sebuah konfederasi kesukuan kuno dari sekitar 30 desa dan suku di wilayah Latium dekat kota kuno Roma, yang diatur untuk pertahanan bersama. Istilah "Liga Latin" adalah istilah yang diciptakan oleh sejarawan modern tanpa padanan bahasa Latin yang tepat.[2]
Pendirian
Liga Latin awalnya diciptakan untuk perlindungan terhadap musuh dari daerah sekitarnya (Bangsa Etruria) di bawah mandat kota Alba Longa.[1] Sebuah pecahan yang tidak lengkap dari sebuah prasasti yang dicatat oleh Marcus Porcius Cato mengklaim bahwa pada suatu waktu, liga tersebut termasuk Tuskulum, Aricia, Lanuvium, Lavinium, Cora, Tibur, Pometia, dan Ardea.[3]
