Heinrich Gottlieb Ludwig Reichenbach

Heinrich Gottlieb Ludwig Reichenbach (8 Januari 1793 - 17 Maret 1879) adalah ahli botani dan ornitologi dari Jerman. Ia adalah anak dari Johann Friedrich Jakob Reichenbach, penyusun kamus Yunani-Jerman yang pertama pada tahun 1818. Ia juga ayah dari Heinrich Gustav Reichenbach, yang juga ahli botani dan ahli anggrek varietas unggul.

Reichenbach lahir di Leipzig. Dari tahun 1810 ia belajar kedokteran serta ilmu alam di Universitas Leipzig. Ia menjadi instruktur pada 1818. Tahun 1820 ia ditunjuk menjadi direktur Museum sejarah alam Dresden dan profesor di Akademi Bedah Medis di Dresden di mana ia berkarya sampai 1862. Ia akhirnya mendirikan Kebun Raya Dresden dan ikut juga mendirikan Kebun binatang Dresden.

Koleksi museum hampir habis terbakar saat terjadi kebakaran tahun 1849, tetapi Reichenbach dapat menggantikannya hanya dalam beberapa tahun. Koleksi ini yang menjadi dasar apa yang ada di museum sampai saat ini.

Sebagai penghormatan, namanya digunakan sebagai nama spesies tumbuhan Viola reichenbachiana, juga burung Anabathmis reichenbachii. Ia mendapat singkatan nama Rchb. saat mempublikasi sebuah nama botani.[1]
